If you’ve always wanted to try watercolours but
haven’t known how or where to begin, this weekend is for you.
Step by step, you will begin to build skills around a reference painting
created and taught by watercolourist Frans Aeyelt. This approach is
intended to combine enjoyment with accomplishment so that participants
can leave with new skills to practice and a painting to either finish
or display to friends and family. Drawing technique, thumbnail sketches,
composition, value, and the importance of light in paintings will be
introduced in relation to the project with handouts supplied to provide
further enrichment to the classroom experience and beyond.

Frans
Aeyelts'
varied catalog of work reveals his interest and skill in conveying depth
and perspective in his paintings. As a Lunenburg artist, the Maritime
subjects which make up the majority of his material reveal a passionate
interest in interpreting the light, colour and design of the local environment.
A graduate of the School of Applied Printing and Graphic Design in Utrecht,
the Netherlands, and art instructor at Nova Scotia College of Art and
Design and various community centers, Frans’ teaching emphasizes
drawing and painting technique as well as the development of sharp observational
skills.
