This workshop for
10 to 12 year olds offers a new way "of seeing" the familiar
world of Lunenburg. Guided by the instructor, students will record—in
their own chosen style and in their own self-made book—their observations
of town architecture and street-life, the waterfront, the landscape
and the Maritime history as presented at the Fisheries Museum of the
Atlantic. Using many different techniques and materials, students will
begin to build confidence in their individual styles of art.
The
instructor, Jennie Carton has
certification as an art teacher. Having raised four children, she has
recently moved back to Lunenburg after an extensive career in academia.
Her educational interests focus on prê-teen years as an important
transition in artistic development and confidence. Her studio work concentrates
particularly on metal and paper collage with drawing techniques on Plexiglas.
