This
queen-size quilt ( 88" by 100") is built around a centre motif
by adding borders which carry the colors throughout the quilt. A centre
geometric starburst medallion is surrounded by three borders: the perennial
Log Cabin blocks, a stained glass floral and vine appliqué border,
and the outer border of “old fashioned” blocks. Participants
in the 4-day workshop will learn color coordination, speed sewing, strip
sewing, appliqué techniques, and how to 'build' a quilt top.
Anna
Davison
has taught quilting for 25 years and currently designs quilt patterns
sold through her own business in Mahone Bay or taught at various workshops
that she facilitates throughout eastern Canada, Ontario and parts west.
She has exhibited her quilts at shows in Halifax and Lunenburg County
and has made numerous one-of-a-kind commissioned pieces for personal
and commercial use and for fund-raising efforts. Anna says her greatest
enjoyment comes from seeing the "light come on" when teaching
a new idea or technique to workshop participants, whether they are beginners
or advanced quilters.
