Study and Practical Application of Colour Theory
Come spend five
inspiring days immersed in the shimmering, awesome world of colour!
This workshop offers rug hookers an exciting opportunity for in-depth
exploration of colour theory as it relates in practice to dyeing wool
with wash fast acid dyes. Included in the workshop will be discussion
of the history, origin and language of colour, colour pigments and dyes;
how colours interact in relationship to warm and cool palettes. While
working in pairs, participants will learn proper procedure when working
with dyes to insure maximum light fastness, how dyes interact with each
other and how to apply this knowledge using various dye methods. Instructional
handouts and bibliography will provided by the teacher.

Sarah
Ladd is
the author of two highly regarded dye books and is a frequent contributor
to Rug Hooking Magazine. Along with exhibiting her work in Nova Scotia,
she is a two time finalist in "Celebrations", an annual juried
competition for traditional rug hooking in North America. A certified
rug hooking teacher, Sarah has taught rug hooking and dye workshops
in the Maritimes. She is sole proprietor of Hands Across Time, a rug
hooking studio, on the north shore of Nova Scotia.
