This course will
teach students how to create basketry with a sculptural dimension. Participants
will begin with twining two weavers and quickly advance to working with
three weavers. Three-rod wale, also known as triple twining, is a strong
dense weave that is excellent for shaping and 'sculpting' three dimensional
basketry art pieces. Learn to shape your basketry creation by adding
and reducing the number of spokes, experiment with different coloured
reeds, and create a spiral, checkerboard, vertical and horizontal stripes.
This course is appropriate for beginners as well as advanced weavers
who want exposure to the three-rod wale method of basket weaving.
